I liked Patton Oswalt's Werewolves and Lollipops funny! the "63 year-old woman gives birth" bit is nauseating and hysterical.
also, that Of Montreal Record, Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? half hit me. as in, half of it was not great, but the other half was incredible. I really didn't like any of their other discs (far too twee and cutesy), but holy hell, that is one bitter bitter glam album. I like the mix of home recorded destroyed funk and weird, almost embarrassingly personal angry songs. The disparate elements really work. I found myself both repulsed and drawn to it. nice job! that run of songs from track 3 to "the Past is a Grotesque Animal" is just shambles. fucking not crap. oooh-oooh-oh!
Bottomless Pit's Hammer of the Gods is sooo good. It's a shame that I had already spent so much time (I mean a lot of time) with the ep that is half of the record. it was a little disappointing that HotG (oddly enough, it's what I call brian orchard) didn't feel new. Still, I can't fault them for not having very many songs for such a young band. If I could tack on the unwavering mix of joy and sadness that ep gave me last year, it'd easily be the best thing.
also, I have found that I really like some depressing music.
keep it dismal, 2008!
kerble is right.
