Tonight:
Nice is 5th of the league. I can't believe it
New football season 2008-2009
1172I lurk quite a lot and I know there are a few......eh.......other types around here....... I'm a big Celtic fan I'm also glad no Irish or British teams will be involved in the Euros........of course I would've loved Ireland to be involved but I've known for quite some time that we were'nt gonna qualify. Not good enough. Staunton was not the right choice. However England and Scotland are also not good enough and although the North and Wales put up a good show they are nowhere near good enough to be involved........besides, a competition with un biased commentary will be nice for a change...........haha
I didn't see this posted, apologies if it was - the world cup draw:

1173I read somewhere recently (I thought it was on this thread, actually, but I can't seem to find it) that one of the infamous political murals in Belfast had recently been painted over with a mural of David Healy scoring against England. I managed to find an unfortunately small picture of it:
I think this is awesome. At least, infinitely better than hatred and terrorism. An all too rare example of football transcending mob mentality and nasty separatist politics, rather than being a catalyst for it.
In other news, did anyone see on MOTD2 last night the frankly insane statistic that if premier league matches were only 45 minutes long, Fulham would be top of the table?! That's got to be hella frustrating.

Presumably Sanchez bores the piss out of them at the interval. Or, to misquote Rodney Marsh, he goes through with his threat to "pull them off at half time"
Maybe they want to look at the traditional Craven Cottage half-time fare of "doughnuts, warm lard and smack"

Yep, pretty wild stat that one.
Hearts drew 1-1 with Gretna yesterday, Laryea Kingston scored both. The referee was as bad as I've ever seen.

1176Laryea giveth, Laryea taketh away.
And Hearts probably won't have Stewart against Celtic this weekend, due to his sending off and petulance after.

No love for Crouchinio? I don't get it. I really think he's an ok player - not the best, but it's not his fault. He's a decent striker. Plus he always struck me as a nice guy. Seems sincere and really, really happy to be playing for England - probably because he can't believe his luck, but anyway, it's more than you can say for most of the team.
If none of that works, this should endear you to him:Peter Crouch, on a kid's TV programme phone-in wrote:Question: What would you be if you hadn't become a footballer
Crouch: A virgin.
It's his face. That's tight and unfair. I just dislike his style of football and don't rate him highly in any way at all. You're right though, he does seem to do his job and has definitly improved his game over the past few years with a good goal scoring rate for England generally.
Hate is a word I throw around stupidly really.

1179He's off to Birmingham City.
A little bird told me that Gareth Southgate is getting fired within forty-eight hours. I can't find a bookie who will take the bet though! That probably means it's true.

Please tell me this isn't so they can re-employ second-choice Steve.
