4I went to an exhibition of her works in the Tate Modern a couple of years back and was not impressed. I thought the paintings were ugly (no bad thing in itself), found the mysticism trite, and thought the symbolism that I picked up on was unenlightening.
I have a nagging feeling that I may have missed the point though; I certainly spent more time than I usually do scanning the accompanying notes to see if I had. Sadly, if I had missed the point, I suspect that the programme note writers had as well.
Crap.

Gib Opi kein Opium, denn Opium bringt Opi um!

5It's kinda interesting to see the innards of someone so conflicted about morality. Many times when I see her paintings I see the strong desire to be matronly and equal contempt for humanity. I feel like she was both left wanting and satiated with her life. I get the feeling that she was unnecessarily complex day to day.
Well, regardless of what I think, at the very least she's got me wondering about who she is when I look at her work. That's enough for a NC vote from me.
