Is the tape simulation any good?

whaaa, you guys you actually use tape or something?

I have one in my studio. I like it. I use it almost exclusively on overheads. I don't use it as a "tape simulator" I think that's wanky marketing term. I use it as a light stereo compressor and because of the "warmth" adjustability it can be very pleasant on brass.

I'm guessing the fact that it has a warmth button right on the front of it would make it the object of much scorn in these parts.

I think it's a cool unit but I'm planing on building another control room and I'm probably not going to buy another. It's kind of expensive for the uses I've found for it. Plus a good pair of ribbon mics on your overheads will handle harsh brass just as well.

A pair of distressors is probably a better use for the money. I find them a lot more flexible.
