Several years ago I got a hold of an old MXR 1500 rack unit from my radio station. The engineer told me it didn't work but i gave it a crack anyhow.

Well, when it did work it was an incredible sounding delay and the hold function was especially fun.

When it didn't work, it made some of the lovliest garble you've ever heard and then some of the most god awful feedback. Now it seems, it only makes garble and has been packed away for some time.

I took the case apart to look for any obvious signs of damage like burnt spots and found nothing.

Does anyone know if these are in any way servicable? I know they are rare and hard to come by and I really really like the way this thing works.

Any thoughts?

p.s. when it worked before, i had to let it warm up for atleast a half hour, but it was always touchy....

hey i think you need a new delay card, they are swappable inside, i had two of these and i got the garble and was able to switch it out in the cards, i think...maybe start with cleaning all the connections on the cards and dusting the soot out. best!
