Favorite Christmas Song

This budding yuletide season, my current favorite Xmas song is "Old Toy Trains" by Roger Miller, who has one of the most soothing voices ever.

This year's Xmas comp:

1. Roger Miller: Old Toy Trains
2. Ralph Stanley: I’m Goin’ Home, It’s Christmas Time
3. Johnny Cash & Tommy Cash: That Chistmasy Feeling
4. The Wailers: She’s Coming Home
5. The Sweet Inspirations: Every Day Will Be Like a Holiday
6. Otis Redding: Merry Christmas Baby
7. Merle Haggard: Santa Claus and Popcorn
8. The Ventures: What Child Is This?
9. Ray Charles: The Little Drummer Boy
10. The Staple Singers: Who Took the Merry Out of Christmas
11. The Everly Brothers: Christmas Eve Can Kill You
12. The Louvin Brothers: While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
13. Waylon Jennings: Away in a Manger
14. Brook Benton: Soul Santa
15. The Marquees: Santa Done Got Hip
16. The Moonglows: Hey Santa Claus
17. Freddy Fender: Please Come Home for Christmas
18. Johnny Paycheck: I’ll Place My Order Early
19. Darlene Love: White Christmas
20. Chet Atkins: Winter Wonderland
21. Hank Thompson & The Brazos Valley Boys:
It’s Christmas Everyday in Alaska
22. George Jones & Tammy Wynette: Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus
23. James Brown: Let’s Make Christmas Mean Something This Year
24. Booker T. and the MG’s: Blue Christmas
25. Jimmy Dean: Jimmy’s Christmas Card

Just in case you're on the fence, I recommend that you do not pick up the Boxcar Willie Xmas album.

My uncle who plays guitar and sings in Irish bars up and down Western, he has a song he wrote about Santa stopping in Ireland on his journey for a quick beer that turns into 10 beers and he's too fucked up to deliver the rest of the toys and Christmas is ruined. It's pretty fucking funny. That's my favorite.

Everyone's giving the mad propz to Low's "Christmas" ep - couldn't agree more, it's a beautiful record.

I had to listen to it yesterday to purge my filthy soul, as earlier on I'd been in TKMaxx watching the Shazwan Christmas shopping, and had heard the most godawful cover of the title track "Just Like Christmas". Sounded like it was sung by Bright Eyes or something. It was kind of emo and annoying wacky pop at the same time. Total shite. Anyone have any idea who perpetrated this atrocity? So I can hunt them down and shoot them. Sounded like it should have been in the O.C. or something.

Low covers in TKMaxx = very weird

He went to bed about a decade ago, or whenever he sold his soul to the bankers and the elites.

I seem to remember that you were shopping too! Don't try to make it sound like I love it and you have to put up with it - you know we both loathe the stupid shopping... You cheeky bastard.

But anyway, yes, great EP. Listening to it + wrapping presents + putting up christmas lights in the house with my lovely boyfriend made me enjoy the fact that it was Christmas for a few hours and forget about the usual bullshit.

Salut, Low!

Yes, I have been wondering what this song was called and who it was by.

Thanks.

Yeah it's a great song, I was just going to mention it. The Spice Grils have done an odious cover of it... :(
