currently 55 degrees. not too bad given that it's 8 degrees outside (windchill of -5).

have a small heater going in the bedroom. think it's about time to visit home depot and see what their return policy is. fucking cold in here...




edit: looks like the gas valve went bad. it has been replaced and now everything seems to be working properly. it is now a toasty 61 degrees and rising...

That sucks - why is it so cold? Do you rent? I bought an electric space heater last year from Home Depot that works pretty good - it's a Honeywell Convection heater - something like this.

Home Depot has a pretty good return policy - assuming you have the receipt.

I lived without heat for 3 years. You definitely start to feel it when the outside temperature dips into the teens. It sucks when you can see your breath inside the house. Make sure to leave your facet running slightly to prevent the pipes from freezing.

yes, we rent. furnace is about eleven years old and seems to be a bit fussy. heater dudes should be here in the morning.

faucets are running, so that should be ok.

i thought that starting a fire would make the rest of the house (e.g., the bedroom, which is way the hell away from the fireplace) colder... which is not something that needs to happen right now.

also, tight phantomz are way closer to molly hatchet than 311. and i mean that in the best, most rockin way possible.

Ya, actually within Chicago City Limits the Landlord is required to keep the thermostat at 66/night and 63/day.....er something close to that. I'd say what you have is an emergency.
