Brown gravy? Like turkey gravy? Off-white sausage gravy is the only kind. Not this trash made with turkey grease and no flour.

It is a twelve-hour drive for us. It took a lot to decide to skip school or work and spend money. The decision was made for me when I saw the venue. But this Mastodon business removes any guilt that I would have felt for skipping on my responsibilities a bit.

I have just purchased tickets to this fine event, after securing permission from the wife. I will likely be taking the train into town on Friday evening, then crashing at a friend's house after the show, or getting a hotel room, depending on how excited his wife is about the whole adventure.

I would like to make plans to meet some or all of you, but the pre-show schedule is going to be tight. Maybe I'll just look for a dude with a big afro and a mustache.......

Mastodon confirmed -
Today I received the following email from the promoters of the show:

NEUROSIS TO PLAY FIRST NYC SHOWS IN 4 YEARS
MASTODON CONFIRMED TO OPEN

JANUARY 24 AND 25 AT THE BROOKLYN MASONIC TEMPLE IN FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN

In what is shaping up to be a historic couple days in heavy music, metal heavyweights?Mastodon?will support the band that has been an important influence on them,?Neurosis, at?two very special shows at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. ?Mastodon will be premiering new material from their upcoming album for the first time. ?Neurosis is supporting their critically-acclaimed career-watermark?Given To The Rising.

The Friday January 25 show is close to selling out. ?A limited amount of tickets are still available for Thursday January 24 show. ?Tickets can be purchased at?http://www.brooklynmasonictemple.com, and also at Other Music in Manhattan, and Sound Fix in Williamsburg.

Two bands on Neurosis own label Neurot Recordings will open -?US Christmas on?January 24 and?A Storm of Light on?January 25.

Doom?and?ambient metal?were terms not even invented over twenty years ago in 1985 when Neurosis first formed in northern California. Creating a unique and profound mix of heavy drones and experimental arrangements, Neurosis have influenced artists like Mastodon, Isis and Pelican, collaborated with Swans and, with their pioneering use of synchronized, custom-made visuals during live performances, no doubt influenced Tool.? Neurosis will perform at the appropriately cultish Brooklyn Masonic Temple with special guest Mastodon.

I also have permission. I feel like I'm fourteen again.

I don't think I have it in me to set fire to any vending machines or throw any 32 oz. sodas into the food court at the mall, though.

But I do have permission from the woman in charge. That's a great thing and barely enough for me to handle. So if someone else wants to borrow the sword and the master mason ring, pm me. I think it'll get you into the skybox with Alexander Hamilton and J. Edgar Hoover.

That's OK, we can hassle some 15 year olds instead.

I am tempted to borrow the sword.
