good song but it goes on for too long in my opinion...that song would be better at half the length...

I might not completely understand the question. Would "Walk in Cold" by Naked Raygun be considered "pop-punk"?

I came to find punk rock through early-90s pop-punk; Lookout records kinda stuff. I've got a soft spot for a lot of that stuff, i.e. The Queers, Screeching Weasel, Mr. T Experience, etc.

I have to admit, on reading this thread title "Academy Fight Song" came to mind immediately. I love this song intensely and I think that it fits as "pop". But in the best possible sense. I think that it is the only song that I have listened to more than twice in succession in my adulthood (six times in a row, I'd guess).

It has a few facets that I would associate more with pop than pure rock: its catchiness in verse, chorus and bridge; the relatively shiny production; a chorus that seems to demands one to sing with it; and polished, perfect brevity.

Of course, it still rocks like a bastard.

Misfits? Stuff like Astrozombies, Hybrid Moments, Where Eagles Dare seems like the ubercatchy goofy stupid stuff we're talking about.

And second on Superchunk - "Package Thief" fits this perfectly without being stupid.
