"Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins" has Joel Grey, Jew, in make up intended to make him look Korean. Fred Ward is a Vietnam vet/cop recruited by a secret government agency to learn the ancient (fictional) martial art Sinaju and take down a corrupt businessman. Joel Grey plays Chiun, Remo's mentor, who may just be one of the most unabashed racist caricatures in screen history. This was adapted from book series called "The Destroyer" and was supposed to be the first of a franchise, but this thing flopped badly and sunk into obscurity without leaving behind much of a trace. Wilford fuckin Brimley co-stars.

I also second "Cool as Ice" and "House of the Dead", but I can't believe nobody has recommended the Nicolas Cage shittaculars "Next" and "The Wicker Man". Neither of those will disappoint.

There is a film adaptation of Pearl S. Buck's The Good Earth that's also chopsocky-full of honky roundeyes tarted up to look like The Heathen Chinee.

My friend Josh sent me this, for anyone in the Baltimore or D.C. area:

FREE MOVIE NIGHT
TWO LARRY COHEN FILMS
9:30PM- Q: THE WINGED SERPENT
11PM- THE STUFF
2 FOR 1 DRINKS
Doors open at 9pm- ALL AGES

http://www.ottobar.com

W the Winged Serpent and The Stuff are shining examples of bad film.

EDIT: Oops. "Q the Winged Serpant" obviously, not Dubya.

F/X2. I will watch this the whole way through any time it is on.
"stay away for from the pickled eggs . . ."
"sold gold michaelangelos . . ."
"this is how you cock the sucker . . ."
every 3rd line in this movie is classic. also there's a bean bomb and a dude gets shrink wrapped. so much is going on in this movie.

also:

Ernest Goes to Jail The other Ernest movies are unwatchable but this one is pretty good. I was a big fan of his childrens' show when I was 18.

I defy you to sit all the way through the Drew Barrymore/Hugh Grant romantic comedy "Music and Lyrics" without emesis. (I have no idea why I watched it. Masochism, I guess.)

As much as I love Story of Ricky, I think there is only one King of Bad Movies.

It's unbelievable. It's so hard to pick a single element that really puts it over the top -

1980 Philipino style
A 3-foot tall James Bond knockoff who does his own stunts and has one of the creepiest faces in human history
The high school play production values
The shit-your-pants funny translation and dub

You have to see this movie. Hell, I'll even put on a viewing for the NYC PRFers. As part of a double feature with the 1950s, church-made anti-Communist "documentary" [i]If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horsemen Do?[ /i] (made by a preacher named, I shit you not, Estus Pirkle), it should be enough to reduce you to jelly.

I have done this twice in the last week. By choice. I did not enjoy it one bit, but that did not stop me. I am in training. I have not decided for what yet though.
