I as well remember the first go around of this topic. It was frustrating and a little sad. How can people still justify genital mutilation of infants with reasons like "you have a 60% better chance of not getting aids if your raw dawgin it" don't you understand how fucking retarded that position is? The Hygiene argument is bullshit as well. How hard is it to teach your kid to scrub his cock in the shower every once and a while? Shit by the age of 12 he will probably be doing it twice a day.

I'm really worked up about this, and I could probably go on forever. So I will just leave it with this. If you are a non-jew parent and you let some doctor take your baby boy out of your arms, strap him onto a table and put his dick into this...

WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!

this one has me completely stumped. why on earth would a grown man, of his own free will cut the tip of his penis off? well actually i can understand if this is a medical or religious situation. but aside from those two, seriously whats going on?

and what do you mean by that second part? do you regret having the operation?

What, you never got your ear pierced, a tattoo, took aspirin? Are you cut or uncut? You seem to be very angry about this shit. And you ask why would someone do this, and then answer your own question by stating the two prevalent reasons.

And it's not the tip of the dick. That would piss me off.

And condoms are made for and by cut dudes. Much easier to use when you don't have your own sleeve.

ok, sorry. I'm uncut and this thread has got me very worked up.

I don't know, I just had the feeling that your adult circumcision was a purely cosmetic operation. And the analogies to ear piercing and tattoos have certainly reinforced my assumption. And thats fine, for what ever your reasons were, you can do what ever you want to your body. It's just the fact that I have spent 26 years of my life preventing any sort of harm/pain/sharp objects from encroaching the groin area. Furthermore, that skin on the end of the dick has tons of nerve endings, removing them would diminish the pleasure felt while fucking. yes/no?

also,

-bumble

your right, the science behind all of this is not stupid. Its the implementation that I find retarded. Its like saying, we should all drive around with our windshields removed so that in case we forget to buckle up, and there is a car crash we can conveniently fly out the window and land on a bale of hay.

When you're bringing a child to this world, you're bringing him here with the intention of raising him, living with him until he's sick of you, etc'. During that time you should explain everything he should be explained, whether it's hygiene practices or safe sex. Circumcising a baby thinking that it will prevent him from being sick is wrong. It's not like you're having the baby and then sending him off to space at the age of 1, so you're taking all of the needed precautions. So when you're bringing a child, you should know that you'll have the chance to explain him about hygiene and safe sex you shouldn't just cut some part off his penis so you won't need to explain all that.

If I may call you two chuckleheads "dudes":

Dudes, I have posted way too much information here for you to call the reduction in HIV acquisition in circumcised men..."stupid".

Stupid, ha ha, yeah. Having posted studies and graphs and tons of articles and arguments about generalized vs. non-generalized epidemics, the argument about HIV and circumcision deserves a lot better than the fatigued blowhard rants above.

Safe sex is always encouraged. Condoms haven't worked everywhere. There need to be creative methods for HIV prevention above and beyond condoms.

You think that practising safe sex (both using condoms and/or being sensible) is less effective that circumcision? Yeah? Well I'm away to the 'last time you really laughed hard' thread.

Honestly, if you think you're protecting your child by circumcision you're fucking deluded. Deluded.

Eliya. Well played.

1. maybe you should read bumble's previous posts before being a twat.

2. maybe she has a point in saying that circumcision IN ADDITION TO other safe sex practices can FURTHER REDUCE chances of contracting HIV, primarily IN AFRICA where condom use (nevertheless access to condoms) isn't the norm. where did she say condoms are "less effective" in general?

3. maybe before being a knucklehead AND a twat you can take into account that this is what she, her peers and mentors study.

I wouldn't do it to a son of mine in the U.S., though. Little Jimmy could make that decision later in life. Until then, pull back and scrub, junior.

If I lived in Botswana, though, fuck yeah, I'd circumcise him at birth.

Edit: Aggressive overtone removed.
Yes, context. Very few of us posting here are African or living in Africa so the contextual risk is much less, so much less of a risk that circumcision as a prevention of HIV/AIDS is probably negligible given the level of understanding we have of the subject.

Rick Reuben wrote:New UNICEF report. Female circumcision is not slowing down in Africa.
An estimated 70 million girls and women in 27 African and Middle Eastern countries have been "circumcised", according to Unicef.

The age-old tradition, also known as female genital mutilation (FGM), is primarily performed on girls ages four to 14, though in some countries it is done on infants. It involves removing a girl's clitoris and sometimes other external genitalia.

Countries where more than 50 percent of girls and women ages 15 to 49 are mutilated include: Burkina Faso, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Somalia and Sudan (north).

Female "circumcision" is a misnomer as it is not the same at all as male circumcision. It is akin to castration. Calling it circumcision lessens the gravity of the practice and diminishes female sexuality.
