Fancy some free booze this Saturday evening at Rough Trade on Brick Lane? Thought you might. My brother's just published his second book, a brief history of rock'n'roll, and Rough Trade is paying host to the book launch. There's some band or other playing. I can't make it down due to the short notice, but perhaps an envoy of PRF representatives could go on my behalf and give him a big hug from me? Hugging strangers might seem an odd thing to do, but then after an afternoon's free booze, you'll find yourself feeling the love. Here's the email he sent me:
Ladies and gents
Apparently, there is a book launch happening for a book wot I wrote. The book is called JIM'S VERY LARGE HANDBOOK OF ROCK N ROLL: the launch for the book is occurring on Tuesday January 29 at Rough Trade Records, Dray Walk. Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane between 6 and 9pm.
There either will, or will not be, a band playing. The name of the band, if they play, is supposedly "The Horros2. I am assuming this is a spelling mistake.
There may, or indeed may not, be a DJ. If there is one I will never have heard of him her or it.
What there ought to be is free booze. So come drink it. I've just been told that I "only need to drum up 50 people", so my plea to you is this: if you want to come, reply to me at this address and I will send you an invite, without which you cannot get in. And send this email on to anyone you know, I don't care who, who
a) lives in London and
b) likes rock n roll, free booze or bands called "TheHorros2.
Same applies: whoever you are, if you get this email and you want to come, reply to ************@yahoo.co.uk and you'll get an invite.
Merci
J

PM me for his email address, and go along! I would love to see a band called the Horros2 - wouldn't you?
