On the recent reissue of Born To Run, in the DVD documentary, Weinberg is interviewed and he admits to never being able to recreate this fill.

1. I don't care if it was sped up, slowed down, hung upside down, or fellated by a $3 crack whore: Lombardo. Angel of Death.

2. Pantera (Yes, Pantera are ass clowns. Get over it). "Five Minutes Alone" - on the live versions it's right after 'Vince....'

3. Nomeansno, "Big Dick" - in the last verse, the double-kick fill

4. Tim Alexander coming out of the first chorus in "Professor Nutbutter's House" - totally sparse, like 3 notes - and then coming out of the second chorus with a blizzard of 32nd notes that sound like a drumkit rolling down a flight of stairs. Amazing contrast.

5. Rollins Band (I think Sim Cain was still the drummer on this one) - "Starve". If you know the song you know what I'm talking about.

6. HUM - "Stars" - I don't care if a car commercial ruined the song for me, that first fill is legendary.

I always loved the absolute patheticness of the drum fill during the intro to "In The Mouth Of The Desert" by Pavement.

Also, the drum fills at the beginning and end of this song are really fucking good.

Oh, and the fill in The Dog and Pony Show!

Kenny Buttrey on Dylan's "Most Likely You Go Your Way And I'll Go Mine" - Whole song - Unbelievable drumming on that track

John Bonham - "When The Levee Breaks" - well, duh.

Bill Ward on the entire Paranoid album - I think Julian Cope once described ward's fills as like "bibles being tossed down the stairs" or something like that - a beautiful image

Ringo Starr - "A Day In The Life" - just the tone of those tom-toms...and how they're so deep and just ring out...oh damn...

Karl Burns - "No Xmas For John Quays" - Just amazing drumming on the entire Live at the Witch Trials album, but it's especially ferocious here.

Nick Mason - "Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part 1" - No song in the Pink Floyd catalog shows off Mason's trademark slo-mo tom hits with quite as much dramatic force.

Phill Calvert - "Zoo Music Girl" - I still have no idea how Calvert played this song, or how he could speed up on live versions.

Drumbo - Anything - The man is one of the best drummers anywhere ever

that one is brilliant. pavement's drummer is the best/worst ever. when i play drums, he's always a reference.

Best drum fill to appreciate ironically: the fill into the last chorus of "Fat Bottom Girls" using all 269,157 toms.

I also have a weakness for that beautifully simple yet hackneyed two-snare offbeat "Love Will Tear Us Apart/Age Of Consent/Transmission" fill. You know the one.

I always like the little hi-hat lick on "Summer Babe" - then the fill right before the vocal comes in to start the first verse - just very odd . . .
