7" pressing plant recommendations?

I had the same question, so I Ued the FSF and gleaned as much information:

United in Nashville will give you dirt-cheap, dirt-quality records. My band is doing a run of 100 7"s (with hand-done jackets, you don't wanna do more than 100, y'know). UR quoted us at $187 for that.

But the consensus 'round here seems to be DO NOT TRUST UNITED, THEY'LL FUCK YOUR SHIT.

So, you should go for Mus-I-Col. Run of 100 was quoted at $262. It's in Columbus, OH.

This oughtta help you more than I can:

Records done at mus-i-col have a very particular sound. Not bad, just particular. I suspect it is on account of their cutting lathe. It is a '44 Skully, I think. The man that does the mastering there is named John Hull, he's been doing the mastering there since the early 60's and is very good at it.

We've done about 10 singles (500 per) there over the last 4 years and they have upgraded their vinyl stock in the last year or so. The records we got from them in '07 are head and shoulders above the ones they pressed for us in '05 or so.

Hope this is helpful.

Bill Smith sent me an estimate (haven´t heard a word from Musicol after sending a request for an estimate, Bill´s seemed reasonable to me), but I can´t seem to get any idea of how much would it cost for the records to get shipped to Brazil. Maybe I´m delusional to think that someone would actually go to the trouble of doing that, as I´m starting to feel it´s an outlandish request. Unfortunately right now there is no single vinyl pressing plant in the entire south american continent still working, so I´m not giving up yet.

Maybe someone can help me decipher the following:

He told me the shipping cost would depend on how much the whole thing (500 seven inch records) would weigh. I imagined it would be no trouble finding out that number, but when I asked him, this is what he had to say:

"Each box will contain 90 to 100 units. They will weigh approx. 10 LBS per box. You will have 1 box @ 2 LBS and 1 @ 4 LBS. Thats about as close as I can get right now. "

I´m hopelessly confused by this. Can anyone explain it to me? I apologise for my ignorance.

I will contact Alpha Records as well, thanks for the recommendation.
