In almost-related news, that will probably be of interest to anyone who knows the subject of this thread; lampposts in the 'student area' of Leeds (sadly, my area) are to be fitted up with movement-triggered recordings of Jimmy Saville giving crime-prevention advice. So, loiter by a lamppost for a while and you'll hear 'Now then, has you-oo my love, locked your - jewelry - up - today?'

As if it wasn't bloody noisy enough 'round here.

Necrophile. Seriously.

I heard this is definitely true, from a reputable source who used to work with him in a hospital.

As for Beadle, my headline would have been: NEXT TIME, THE STAR OF THE SHOW WON'T PULL THROUGH.

Unfortunately its just come to me, 24 hours after the fact, which is why i'm not a tabloid subeditor.

Watch out, Beadle s (not) about.

Oh and lay off Bob Monkhouse.

I have oft-repeated a slightly daft theory of mine that, with his capacity for data retention, Bob Monkhouse could have found a cure for cancer if he'd applied his gifts to science, rather than jokes.

No, it was from my dad's next door neighbour who I've known all my life. He also has a good tale about how Kevin Keegan only became Newcastle manager (first time round) because he owed Sir John Hall a favour after Hall saved him from getting shot by some horse traders he owed money to. All true.
