I'm not suprised to be honest. Nobody hardly moves during the January window. And considering we have a new manager who is two weeks into the post, i'm kind of glad there were no rush signings. As long as we don't get relegated this season then that is all that matters. I can wait until the summer for wholesale personnel changes.

The one thing that has struck me about the recent weeks events is that there seems to be a long term plan being implemented. This is something that has been missing ever since the Hall family and their cronies got involved with the club.

£4m, in the modern game, is a snip. Jermain Defoe is very good player - I think he'll do well at Portsmouth. Also, I imagine he took a wage cut to get first team football, so fair play to him.

The bizarre thing is - the whole deal is, Benjani goes to Man City so Portsmouth can buy Defoe. Am I missing something, or wouldn't City have been better just going straight for Defoe? I understand Benjani bring work rate and perhaps that is what Sven wants, but if I think City's failing has been the 'putting the ball in the goal' bit rather than the 'running around a lot' bit.

What's your favoured line-up for the French team at Euro 2008, Sylvain?

Here's my go at picking a team:

LLORIS

SAGNA - GALLAS - THURAM - EVRA

RIBERY - FLAMINI - DIABY- MALOUDA

ANELKA - HENRY

SUBS: COUPET, CLICHY, SAGNOL, BOUMSONG, MAKELE, VIERRA, DIARRA (L), SISSE, BENZEMA.

What do you think? Am I better than Domenech? ;)

He went to bed about a decade ago, or whenever he sold his soul to the bankers and the elites.

Has anyone read Brian Cloghie's autobiography? The good, the bad and the offensive.

"After training, we called into Rea's Cafe, belonging to the family of Chris Rea, the talented singer-songwriter of today"

"I can still see Frank Clark, sitting at the back of the team coach strumming away, singing in a lovely soft voice with his team-mates gathered around and joining in. County or middle-of-the-road or whatever they called it, I was never quite sure. Peter Taylor used to spin round in his seat and shout "Not another one of those songs, Frank!" He didn't mean it. Taylor appreciated Frank's songs as much as any of us. Clark and his guitar entertained us not only throughout the country but across Europe"

"Taylor was genuinely depressed... by some of the players he had persuaded me to buy... I'm surprised he wasn't downright suicidal! Ian Wallace, the 'poof' Justin Fashanu and a lad called Peter Ward between them cost us... two and a half million quid"
