cavalera conspiracy

anyone else heard of this recently-formed band? max cavalera, from soulfly, and igor cavalera, both of whom were once in sepultura (when they were a damn good band), are forming a band. their upcoming album (will be released feb 2008) will be their first recording together in over 10 years or something. crazy.

they got some dude from gojira to play bass, and marc rizzo from soulfly (madman shredder) will do lead guitar stuff.

their first performance (sound quality isn't so great):

I don't get people's pre-'Chaos AD' / 'Roots' fixation with this band. It seemed there was absolutely no room in their artistic vocabulary for a thing such as 'texture' until then. To me it's just very pedestrian, sub-Slayer chugging.

Yes, right, Tool wasn't popular before then, that is correct. And don't worry, nobody ever accused you of "getting" anything. ;)
