The fact that we actually have the ability to rally mass support behind, technically speaking, the most "liberal" member of the U.S. Senate. Sure, the most "liberal-voting" member of the U.S. Congress ain't that far from the center (or hyper-capitalism), but it's a start.

The guy subverts and pacifies a sizable portion of the right-wing machinery. It's pretty astonishing. In a way, he's basically fooled moderates into thinking that, somehow, he's not nearly as pinko as Hillary. His ability to do this is a much needed asset to the Democratic party. Bill Clinton cut welfare yet, somehow, at least a 1/3 of this country is under the impression that he was a card-carrying socialist. Barack Obama changes the face of what is "liberal" or Democratic in this country.

plus his last name is not Clinton or Bush. that right there is a start.

Interesting article in the Washington Post that attempts to explain the age-gap in Obama and Hillary supporters.

I'm usually fairly skeptical about such such sweeping generalizations when it comes to generational divides but I thought this was worth posting.

I don't know bout y'all but, I just don't like the idea of two families tossing the keys to the White House back and forth like it's a freaking lake cabin.

He's referring to the National Journal "study" that named Obama the most liberal Senator of the year. Keep in mind, this is the same journal that rated Kerry--yes, John Kerry--the most liberal Senator in 2004. "Liberal" is in quotes because their findings were clearly skewed to tar leading candidates in election years, as the results are never the same in nonelection years. As you note, it's absurd to rank either Kerry or Obama as more liberal than Sanders.
