Where was Heavy Vegetable when I needed them?

i loved 3 mile pilot (more like obsessed over 3 mile pilot) so you'd think i'd dig pinback

I know a lot people who follow this logic and I disagree with it. They are completely different bands formed from completely different influences. Yes zach is a part of Pinback, but so is rob crowe. 3 mile is a rock band. Pinback, not as much. Rick froberg (jehu, hot snakes) appeared on a 3 mile record, and rob crowe on a jehu record, but that is about as much of a link between the two that I can come up with aside from the obvious zach exchange.

Not accusing you of falling victim/perpetuating this fallacy ms. kahn, just throwing my pennies in about what I consider to be a common error in logic.

and yes heavy vegetable was good.

i know enough about music to understand that a bandmember who moves on to start a new group doesn't necessarily make the exact kind of music they made with their previous band. are you trying to say when a band you dig breaks up you don't expect to hear some of what you loved from the previous band in the new one? my point with pinback really had nothing to do with the kind of music they play. i just think they blow. big time. regardless of previous bands or style of music played.

however, i love how good they are at conversation. seriously, they could probably give mr. smog a run for his money.

I wasn't trying to be threatening or abrasive at all. Neither was I questioning your music aptitude. I just grew up in San Diego and have been over exposed to the 'ex 3-mile members' thing which I tried to...clarify...right... here

Yes. I will be more inclined to listen to the new project, but that is not because I am hoping for a continuity/similarity in sound, but because I trust this musician/artist to create something I will enjoy. And for this reason its okay to compare 3 mile with Pinback because they are both good bands composed of good musicians. Individual opinions may very in regard to the sound, but the fact remains. I've never embraced the if you like... then you will like... But that is just me and I do not expect it to hold true for anyone but me.

Bottom line is I am not calling you out, I was just making a general point in regards to an often misconceived relationship.
