Beyer M380

I just got off the phone with the Beyerdynamic repair department here in Germany. The guy told me that there are no spare parts left for the M380. Once the capsule is gone, it's over. The only thing they can do is replace the figure of eight capsule with a hypercardioid capsule. He also told me that the M380 capsule was actually realized with a headphone system that's no longer available. This explains why the mic sounds so special. It's successor, the TGX-50, had a real mic capsule.
I used to have three M380s but killed two of them and a M88 inside kick drums during the last couple of years so my last M380 will be reserved for bass cabs.

That's unfortunate.

I speculated as much, based on the shape, and I'm pleased that I was right.

So, can we find out what headphone model this came from? Maybe we can reappropriate some or something very similar.

Are both elements (front and rear) the same?
