Does anyone know of a good mp3 server?

Any web server can host mp3 files of any quality. You can set your server up to either stream or download them. Apache?

I may be way off, but I think you're looking for a web site (what you call a "front end"), as opposed to a web server. Get your web server running, post a bunch of mp3 files on it, and put links to the mp3 files on your web site. Steal epitonic's layout if you want.

Some web servers state in their 'terms and conditions' that you cant put up mp3 files... also a lot of servers are really slow or inconsistent. I use apache tomcat here at work, but we have limited bandwidth so its probably not the best option.

I just need a server.. but I would be okay with using an established website if that's the cheapest thing i can find.

I don't think you'll find what you're looking for for free. It takes a lot of bandwidth to transfer a good amount of mp3s, and a lot of bandwidth will end up costing money. There are some cheap servers, but I don't know them... I think my friend uses Powerweb. He gets a URL and a massive amount of bandwidth for about a hundred a year, I think, which is actually a pretty good deal, if you think about it.

Yeah.... That's exactly what I'm looking for. I just want to find the cheapest one possible that's still decent...
$100 a year is okay.... I'll check out that site now. But if anyone knows cheaper ones, let me know.

Dude... 1and1.com... they used to only serve resellers, they just started serving end users and are offering THREE YEARS of hosting FREE (normally $29/mo or something)... There is no catch, they don't even take a credit card.

500MB space, 5GB/mo transfer free ($.99 per GB for additional traffic), backups...

Seems like a hot deal, I am signing up, oh, and the TOS says nothing about audio content, other than the usual copyright infringement stuff...
