If you have advanced to a state to where the shure sm57 is completely useless to you, then kudos. As far as your confidance that I will feel the same, sadly, you are wrong. I like the sm57, and as said, youd be hard pressed to find a better more consistent mic for 75 freaking dollars, IMHO. Thats the beauty of having multiple microphones in your locker though--- the ability to use what suits your style, ears, and application...

Why does the president matter in the sound of a sm57. Has he ever recorded a band? I think we need to ask steve albini the president of recording what he thinks of a sm57. Not much.

No I'm not saying this because of albini. I am saying because if you have ears in my opinion the sm57 is terrible. I have a/b'd the 57 with 30 other mics. I heard that albini didn't like it after I did this. Not in one situation did I prefer the 57. And also the opinion of 5 other people that were around when I was a/b ing. Thats my opinion. Maybe not yours. But have you a/b'd the hell out of it like I have. Hey if it helps send me your 57 and I will use it I promise. Too block harmful drumstick blows from the good mics.

So lemme get this straight... You and 5 other guys took time out of your lives to have a ginormous "SM57 Shootout!" with some 30 other mics involved.
