He might be the one guy I'll never be able to C/NC. Just when I think he's pure bullshit, I'll hear a song in a bar or something and think he's all right after all. Then just when I think he's okay, I'll hear a song in a bar or something and think what the fuck was I thinking this guy is horrible.

A few years ago, I heard "This Train Don't Stop There Anymore" on the radio and really liked it. It was a pretty self-aware song by and about a guy who was past his prime and trying to own up to it. It wasn't nostalgic (the kiss of death) but it was aware of the past. It was also a wonderful, sparse recording that stood out in stark contrast to the Shania Twain-meets-Stephen Hawking production of all the other music I heard on the radio that evening.

Heather got me the album as a gift. The whole rest of the album is tragic crap. Like horrible, fuck you Elton what's with this crap crap.

I cannot C/NC Elton.

My girlfriend is an avid fan and has been working diligently for over a year now to convince me of his greatness. I have spent very little time listening to any of the three cds she made mes so I have yet to form an opinion. I will say though, the songs she has pointed out as "the good ones" have in fact been pretty decent. I am warming up to the idea of being a minor fan but it is still going to take a little time.

It's also very well recorded for what it's worth.

Here's the wiki on Blue Moves:

Yeah, Blue Moves sounds great, and there's plenty of good stuff on it--though like most double LP's, it could have been trimmed down. I heard it for the first time just a year or so ago on a friend's recommendation (very similar to your endorsement). I can't believe I waited so long, considering that I absolutely adored Captain Fantastic (and Elton John's music in general). I guess I was scared off by the first single having been "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word."

I'm not so much down with Blue Moves. I like it best when it's mainly him and the piano. Though he was always a great, economical arranger.

Elton John was one of the first popular artist that I really loved. There's still occasions where I get obsessed with a certain part of his catalogue for a while.

Was what lennon wanted to be in the seventies.

Not Crap, lots of horrible notwithstanding.
