In the documentary Lynch One, which shows pre-production activities and early shooting of Inland Empire, he and his crew are shown touring and photographing defunct factories, so it may not be too far fetched to consider the such "crumminess" intentional.

It's always really easy to say how terrible something is without backing it up with any merit-laden argument.

i thought the same thing. in fact i was hoping it would end there. i think there was one word of dialogue after that. ("sweet")
i started it an hour late, so i missed all the narrative and just got the fucked up parts.
the rabbits are great. i'll have to subscribe to that one.
i want to watch it again. i wouldn't put anyone else through it though unless they wanted to. i was watching it with a couple of uninterested participants. they left about 2 hours into it.

i love david lynch films - eraserhead, elephant man, blue velvet, straight story etc all great.

this however is completly pointless fucking wank, and i hate it.
