The winters are fantastic (high today of 72 and partly cloudy) although the summers can be a bit humid.

don't let him fool you; you know by "a bit humid" jon means as humid as humid can get on top of insanely hot, and once it cools down at night the heat is replaced with mosquitoes. but aside from that gainesville really is a nice place to live. kind of peaceful with just enough culture to not feel like you're stranded in a hick town.

Mate, you live in England! Have you never been to Milton Keynes? Staines? Anywhere on the A1 corridor? Coventry? Nuneaton? NUNEATON FOR GOD'S SAKE?

I refuse to believe Vancouver is the worst place you've ever been to.

It just seemed really really dull. The city itself is new and shiny and modern, and it’s clean, and everyone is healthy of course – but there must be more to city life than that. For a big city there seemed to be very little cultural life. The bars were crap. The weather is shit. And everyone is a tofu eating yoga going health nut… and the first thing they’ll want to talk to you about is how great Vancouver is and when are you moving there.

So that's what's in Alaska...

1. Having a thousand Starbucks shops does not make you a coffee loving city. It make’s you stupid.
2. A soy-lite decaffee frapacino is not coffee.

Did someone sell you a bag of shake?

Yeah, but if you wanted a little more isolation while still maintaining proximity to Austin, I'd suggest the surrounding hill country (some place like Boerne, TX maybe?). Then you're close to Austin and San Antonio and have plenty of "leave me the fuck alone" space (Austin is getting pretty goddamn crowded).
