There have been several threads touching this lightly before, but none that are all-out wars. I say it is time.
Ginandtacos submitted that this is Megadeth's "Countdown to Extinction." I say Moby's "Animal Rights" gives it a run, at least.
Go!

2Hm... I'm thinking anything Steely Dan or late Pink floyd.
There are crispy fries waiting to come out of your oven: you just have to make them and put them there.

3what about And Justice For All?
also, when i tried to think of the most horribly overproduced song i recall ever hearing, the song Unskinny Bop by Poison jumped into my head almost immediately. so whatever album that's on, that gets my vote, i think. or AJFA

5Liz Fair's last album. It sounded like some focus group/big label music consulting firm wrote the songs.(?)

6def leppard 'hysteria'. they fuckin' recorded each string on the guitar parts separately! they had the lead singer do the 'gang' vocals by himself (with overdubs and doubling). they cut off the drummer's arm so they could give the drum machine more play!
...except for that made up last part, that record is about as over the top as i can think of.

8don't anybody dare outbid me on this record. i'm dropping in a bid for $150 with 10 seconds left, so don't anybody dare mess with that or, uh, y'know, *stuff*.

I'll have to agree with you on this one. I spoke with one of the guys that worked on that album (I think he was a second eng.). He stated that there were NO LESS than 22 vocal overdubs on many of the songs. EVERYTHING was gated and compressed. They used as much digital reverb as was available to them.
Can you just imagine the headaches the mixdown sessions were for this? Not to mention comping vocals for hours on end, trying to get each track to match as close as possible to the first (and this without autotune)! Fuck'n'eh!

10I don't think any recording, however oveblown, can contend with the re-production of all of ZZ Top's original records.
