A great, great episode. It seemed to look better, too--as far as the cinemetoghraphy. I might be imagining this, though.
Anybody else choke up a bit during Jay Landsman's "eulogy" for McNulty? Yeah, me neither.
I love Slim Charles. I demand a spin-off: Slim Charles in Charge

192I was not let down - Bunk had some great scenes in the episode and ultimately came out as one of the few true heroes of the show. Michael as the new Omar was excellent.
One thing though - seems like Barksdale would have had some role in the future of the drug trade in B-more.
Bravo!

Slim is the new Marlo/Avon.
Dookie is the new Bubbles.
The-light-skinned-cop-whose-name-I-can-never-remember (seen going to see the judge to rat) is the new McNulty.
The beat goes on . . .
great ending. michael as the new omar and bubbles upstairs were especially good... oh and cheese getting shot. fuck that guy. had a moment of liking marlo too. can't believe it's over. best show ever.

195I thought for a minute the body Bunk and Kima were at towards the end was Dookie. I was kinda relieved to see him shooting up at the end.
Farewell The Wire. You were Not Crap.

197while watching this season (the only one I didn't watch on DVD) I felt like it didn't match the quality of the other seasons. The other day, I watched a few of the episodes again in a row and it really made a huge difference. The waiting a week for each episode had a negative effect on the season.

I know what you're getting at and I know how you feel (I think).
Great season. A lot of people were way too into season four. A good season by any measure, and necessary as hell, but weak if you're a fan of policework-oriented storylines. I thought this season started a bit slow, but ended very, very strongly. Salut! Season five. I never buy DVDs, but I'm going to buy the full series and watch it again. Best show on television, ever.
They never talked down to the viewer; not even once.

200I told my lady about how Method Man has a character on the show called Cheese.
Her reply was, "Cheese? That's the best they can do?"
I then told her how there were probably at least 5 people with the street name of "Peanut" per neighborhood.
Then I start watching Season 3 and Bunk pulls up 89 people "named" Peanut just on the west side.
This show is genius as far as accuracy goes.
