Yeah, I'm a bit of a fat boy currently, and I'm usually not feeling the cold the same as skinny folks on any given cold day. So predictibly I was the first person to break out the shorts at work a little while back... to all manner of "Shorts!? Brrr!!" exclamations from female co-workers... but:
a) it was the first day of the year here to get over 60 degrees F
b) I sit on my ass indoors in a damn office all day
c) I have a parking space within the office building's garage
So that's my excuse.

I have no idea where this notion comes from - but I am honestly curious, as every so often I will hear a male say something similar.
Is it something regional, or tied to a religion that you practice, or passed down "conventional wisdom" within your family (or circle of friends), or is it just something you personally feel on your own?
Seriously, I'd be interested to know the origin, if any, of the sentiment.
