i've got a '77 rd custom guitar. i like it a lot. i don't have any trouble playing it and i don't really find it uncomfortable in any way... but that's just me. it sorta plays like an sg. it didn't have the original pick ups when i got it and i ended up putting in passive pick ups (which i generally prefer anyway). overall it sounds great, plays great, and, indeed, looks really fucking cool.

I played an RD custom for a couple years...really liked it. I should not have sold it, but other things seemed more important at the time.

Mine still had the active pickups, which sounded good, but picked up the radio when coil tapped. I also had some trouble w/ the fretboard coming off. I just glued it back down.

It was comfy, and never had any neck dive. I kinda use explorer/ firebird /rd back ends as an armrest, so i really liked it.
No one is paying you to sit on that bed and cry.

lends itself to neck dive but i do have a chunk of aluminum for a neck.

haha! kevin is making me an aluminum RD at this very moment!

i've been a little worried about balance too. by 'chunk' do you mean the neck is solid aluminum?
