HD is the kind of band you need to set aside until you go through an ugly, slow breakup. If you put them on at that point, you'll think they're the most genius band ever.

An abhorrent thought. Beautiful album, through and through.

The Steve Miller Band, however, should choke on its own tiny dick.

I think it's a stretch to call Steve Miller "critically lauded."

Indeed. I stretched to include a crap band I just cannot stand. My laziness.

To get back on the right track:

Joanna Newsome is crap.

both were for the most part a california thing, along with circle jerks (who i hate), who were more specifically an LA thing.

Kennedys were Oakland, I thought.

I lived in the area from which Black Flag emerged. No one ever talked about them.

Meh. If that's the case, then there really is no point in listening to them.

Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks

I've been told they're "absolutely amazing it will be life changing!" but as much I tried to get into Astral Weeks, I just couldn't feel it. As for Daydream I got bored a-third-of-the-way through...it's so dull and sluggish.

The same can go for anything by Radiohead and Mercury Rev (even before David Baker said goodbye).

I also agree with the bloke who said 'Freak Out!' - some of the bitter, spiteful love songs sound alright, but the album just washed over me. "We're Only In It For The Money" and "Weasels..." remain THE only Zappa albums for me - these are the ultimate angry and bile-spewingly dark 'fuck you's that FO wishes it was.
