Perhaps it would serve you well, Rick, to not take what is said out of the context it was originally in.

Millions more were killed in those countries for many reasons, including many fellow communists and atheists.

All those killings were about power and control, and the consolidation of power and control into the hands of a few.

Who ever is in power, in an authoritarian, totalitarian state, whether they are religious based or politically based regimes, uses these same methods to consolidate their power and control over their people.

It is the nature of that particular beast.
