things you like most about getting older

Andrew, great post. I agree with everything in it. The parent thing: my dad (who I don't see a lot) and I have just started exchanging emails. It's great. We wouldn't have done it five years ago.

I try not to envy people, but the types who have found their place, marriage, kids... And I often think it's not only related to material things. Coming from the warm and milky, I think it's easier to buy into that later in life. Maybe.

Also, a lot of my friends, I would say 70% are poorly educated. Which means they're either living it up, not giving a fuck, or have settled for something they find acceptable. I'm somewhere in between, which is sort of awkward.

Dunno, I just hit three oh, so this is kind of hitting close to home. Also, I'm slightly drunk.

Hey, another thing: WTF, why do folks around thirty like unanimously start listening to country music at all?

You can't really accumulate a critical mass of lowdown dirty women, drunken fights, waiting for trains that never arrive, and problems with the law until you're of a certain age.
