Mark E Smith loves Peter Hammill / Van Der Graaf Generator, he's gotta love bombast.

Or wait, that's pretty much what you're sayin, huh.

See, the thing is I love Van Der Graaf Generator too...or at least most of the stuff I have of theirs...so I really don't know what it is. (And I adore The Fall, obviously.) Springsteen just feels corny to me a lot of the time, and inconsistent. "Born To Run" is a great song, but I almost never listen to it because I'm almost never in the mood for that kind of chest-out, West Side Story-of-rock-and-roll type stuff. When I am, though, it's great. (And even then, I'll never listen to Born In The USA. '80's synth = bleecchh.)
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

I love Feedbacker to death but Boris are hysterically overrated. Lost interest in them after I purchased Pink. Release way too much in way too limited runs that end up selling for triple on eBay the day after any given album is out. An amazing live band, sure, but too boring on record

And a few more:
Mars
Supersilent (specifically 6)
Davis' Kind of Blue/Bitches Brew
Dolphy's Out to Lunch
Riley's In C
most This Heat
