It's one AM and I'm studying after practice.
I'm listening to Ray Charles, of course.

It's "Seamus," isn't it?
I'm not sure if you're a Flaming Lips fan, but there's a song off of the astoundingly mediocre At War With The Mystics called "Pompeii am Gotterdamarung." It's eerily similar in style and atmosphere to "One of These Days," which is probably why it's one of the better songs on the album.
The Flaming Lips - Ice Drummer
I actually like "Seamus" - it's one of the (very) few times the Floyd ever showed that they may have had a sense of humor after Syd left. (Not having a sense of humor was definitely a Floyd flaw.) But, what was disappointing me about Meddle is that it feels kind of...lifeless, at least compared to live versions I've heard (the Live at Pompeii versions are awesome!), and kind of cold. Passionless. and that's not a good thing. Still, "Echoes" is pretty damn awesome.
As for the Lips, they're a band I want to get into more (I only have Yoshimi and Oh My Gawd!!!) so I'll check it out. Everyone and their brother says At War with the Mystics blows goats, so I won't go there. What's a good place to go?
Oh, and currently listening to:
Husker Du - Zen Arcade
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

In a Priest Driven Ambulance is a necessity. I cannot post succintly on how much this record means to me without sounding like a cheeseball. It makes you want to peel the skin off of your face while simultaneously flinging yourself off of a very tall building. Equal parts loud, noisy, weird, ecstatic and somber.
You really can't go wrong with any of their releases up to and including The Soft Bulletin. IAPDA is a wonderful starting point, though.
Th' Faith Healers - Sparklingly Chime

Oh wow...If it's that good, I definitely need to check it out. Will download ASAP. And if it rules enough, will buy ASAP.

For you younguns, Sammy Hagar wasn't always a complete piece of shit. "Space Station #5" is playing right now, and goddamnit if Stiff Little Fingers didn't lift the riff for "Alternative Ulster".
A loud record for those days when you need one.
