As a younger writing professor, I used to show Hell House to my students and have them write a reaction to the film, the phenomenon, and the general function of religion in the public arena. A LOT for students to take in.

One semester this 'source' (they can have one "internet" source not from an academic database like proquest or academic onefile or whatnot) popped up in 9 different drafts.

Explaining irony and satire was a lot of fun that day.

I no longer assign that paper cycle. We read Paulo Freire now.
