Yeah, that was a particularly pointless thread development.

If you read Gerard's posts, he was being reasonable. Some other people were pretty insensitive all things considered. I guess he shouldn't have let it get to him but y'know, the dude had only just lost his dad. Sometimes things like that hit you some-time after the fact.

I'm sure he's busy doin' his thing.

Yeah, I just read that back. I think in retrospect I didn't post on that thread as it was a little close to home for me.

...but thats the way it goes, you bring your values, you test them, and sometimes you get hurt.

The best that can be said is that no one was wanting to cause real offence. Some issues are wickedly divisive and instigate strong emotions, thats'all.

Don't worry everyone, we'll all get our chance to be curmudgeonly one day.
