Tastee things you can t get in the states.

There appears to be a lot of threads about food here and for good reason. It seems most of us know a considerable bit about food/cooking/restaurants both high end and street/comfort food. A curious interest for those in the sound/recording/music biz but it doesn't surprise me.

Anyway, throughout my touring and travels I've come across some really delicious things to eat that are unavailable in the states. Now that I'm in Hong Kong I'm in heaven largely due to the large European community and the relaxed importation regulations. I can again find the most amazing things to eat from around the world.

1. Good coffee - obviously.

2. European yogurt and Quark.

3. Saucisson sec. Unavailable in the US because of the way it is cured (not cooked). A glass of modest wine, Amora mustard (also unavailable) and a crispy baguette (unavailable with the right crust) and this is an amazing lunch.

4. Tennant's Milk Stout. Discovered when I was playing bass on the cruise ships in the Caribbean. Not just a pork chop in every bottle but also a 1/2 pound of cheese.

5. The holy effen grail of ham. From the area Spain where they feed special black pigs only acorns from special cork trees and the ham is cured in he same way as it has been for hundreds of years. Pata Negra ham. Available at a grocery store here in HK.

I'm I heaven.

Reciprocal:
I miss a real Chicago style burrito (LaP-ta). South side BBQ rib tips (Lem's). Batter fried smelts (1/2 shell). Real potato chips. Taylor street Italian Ice.
