Not Crap.

I went on a 30 mile bike ride on the North Branch trail yesterday. Listened to Mozart's (doubtful provenance) K.271a violin concerto three times in a row. Granted, it's a 25 minute piece.

With shorter songs it can be crap. If I listen to a 3 minute song over and over again I'll end up not listening to it for months or longer afterward.

i wasn't able to flip to the B-side of the Songs: Ohia Dark Tower 7" the first time i heard it. i listened to that first song 5 or 6 times in a row i'm sure. too good.

I've almost always got a "Soundtrack Song", be it "Nai Ha", "Prayer To God", "Spiral Architect" "Sails of Charon" whatever.

Sometimes you need to just get lost in one tune.

And yeah, long instrumental pieces don't quit count the same.

When I was in third grade, the kid who lived across the street dubbed a tape that was that Bryan Adams song from Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves over and over again on both sides.

That was not crap

If I put on Dopesmoker by Sleep, I will normally listen to it until either I go to sleep or leave the house.

most of the time it's crap because it feels like there's anything good else to listen to

it's a bit like being in love with a song. when it happens and you are days only listening to that song, that is a beatiful thing. it happens three or four times in a year for me, but those are great moments.
