Heston s dead.

Back in the Sixties, the guy was a leftist -- Heston marched with Martin Luther King and was a major activist for union rights in the SAG. That made his slide into right wing asshattery all the more ugly and depressing for me. You blew your own obituary, Chuck -- now everyone remembers you as a crank. Or as Moses.

No offense, but fuck the knee jerk reactions of all of you people on this board. Just because you don't share the same political views as another person doesn't give you the right to label the man a "douchebag". No one here knew him personally so you can't full ascertain who he was.

I happen to share his views on gun control and political correctness. I'm not a "neo-conservative" either. The bias here is sickening unless it also tongue in cheek for some of you. You can't tell for sure on a message board.

The guy was a WWII hero, made some decent films and continued to main friendships with Hollywood "librerals". He seems to have at least more integrity than Michael Moore or George Clooney.

I guess Kirk Douglas, Paul Newman and Clint Eastwood are the last of the old school of Hollywood tough guys now.

Fuck Heston, whatta twat.

Made a handful of good movies, though. No bugger will be throwing away their copies of A Touch of Evil because of the man's politics. One of the best things to come out of American culture.

I caught him cold in the Black Forest, tanned like a Hawaian. He had a glazed look in his eyes.

It is 2008. Anyone who is even barely serious about "political correctness" deserves, at very least, internet scorn.

2008! And you guys are on about political correctness. Do you still put cloves in oranges to ward off the black death?

Young Charlton is very different than old Charlton.

I remember being surprised to see photos of him at MLK jr's speech in washington. He was very progressive at one point in his life.

However, like lots of people, he started to drift towards the right wing as he got older.

That's not why I called you class act. I couldn't give a rat's ass about political correctness, real or imagined, but the way you responded. Grow up.
