Green sure is a shitty album.
Everything before was great though.

133Green sounds strange to me now.
I think that their will to please was getting stronger than their need to impress at this time.
An uneasy mixture of pretentiousness and commercialism is not the kind of strangeness I'm looking for.
"World Leader Pretend" + "Hairshirt" > "You Are The Everything" + "The Wrong Child".
But now for the equation:
REM = CRAP

It sounds like "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)".
Yes. It sounds almost exactly like this song, but with the cutesy schtick replaced by some semblance of humanity. I love this song.
This new R.E.M. record seems pretty good so far, judging by the few songs I've heard.

136I listened to Lifes Rich Pageant today for no good reason.
That record and Fables of the Reconstruction are very good records.

I think these two are the worst of the first seven or so REM albums. There are some good songs on these albums but they pretty much meander around too much for me.
Chronic Town
Murmur
Reckoning
Document = All Great Albums.
The rest, meh. REM has probably given us more dreadful crap at this point than they have provided us with goodness (even though I admittedly love those four albums I just mentioned) so I am changing my vote to
CRAP.

Surprisingly, I can't stop listening to the new R.E.M. album "Accelerate".
The song "Man-Sized Wreath" just kills me. It really does.
Music could provide the light you cannot resist, indeed.
Salut, R.E.M. I love you.
Confidential to Bill Rieflin: Nice work!

140Bradley's continued reverence and unabashed love for R.E.M. is a beautiful thing. Salut!
