Sytek + Neotek

I have never done an A/B comparison, but I do believe the Syteks might be a little cleaner.

I too love my Syteks, they are great sounding preamps, especially when you consider the price! I share the same beef as you, they would definately benefit from a pad of some sort. I have been forced to switch preamps using high gain mics on loud sources because the Syteks could not handle it.

You should buy a handful of Shure in-line pads. They're quite useful.

I don't notice any change in sonics at all with the Shure pads. (Then again, I've never done an intensive A/B test.) I've also never had a problem with them passing phantom power.

The list price is on the Shure web site, though I can't remember what I pay for them at my local PA/backline shop.

You might if you have a mic that draws a lot of current.

Hey guys it's me greg.

The Sytek shares the same front-end transistors and has lower noise op amps. I think the circuit is simmilar. Email the guy and tell us what you find. [/url]
