all these bands are well and good, but can they save your life? Can they fuck.

Maybe the metal gods above were smiling on me and they didn’t want one of their true warriors to die on them. Otherwise, I’d be up there in the kingdom of steel.

Gorgoroth rules. I wish Ghaal was allowed into the United States so they could play some shows over here.

The first two Shihad albums. They went more and more commercial after these two... and are pretty patchy now to say the least.

Churn is brilliant, recorded by Jaz Colman.
Killjoy is the peak, You Again staccato has the best riff this side of Meantime.

Today is the Day have a few amazing records:

Willpower- this is before they truly evolved into a metal band but it is AWESOME hateful noise-rock. If pressed I'd put it in the same "msc" genre category as stuff like unsane or dazzling killmen

S/T more weird and disjointed than Willpower

Temple of The Morning Star this is their fucking masterpiece. Continuing the evolution towards a more metal sound. This is just epic. Sadly nothing they have done since has even come close IMO.

Burzum's Filosofem is I think my favorite metal album. It's almost psychedelic and it reminds of Big Black and oh, Flying Saucer Attack at times.

I'm listening to this right now for the first time based on this recommendation. This is REALLY cool and not at all what i would have imagined. I am not familiar with FSA but I can definitely hear some big black in the guitar sound. I enthusiastically second this recommendation.
