the best actors are intense artists. as such, i don't blame anyone for becoming fans of what they see as a good actor. as an example, i think most of the main actors in the godfather and part 2 are great actors; i'm a fan of them -- brando, pacino, cazale, duvall, de niro, strasberg, caan... just not diane keaton.

i wouldnt go as far as calling an actor an artist, though i can definitely respect some actors to a high degree - but artists? Nah. To me an artist need to be productive in a more fundamental way, not "just" interpretating a role (made by an artist, if it is of high enough quality). I wouldnt call a singer an artist unless he or she had contributed imensly to the creation of the song as a whole and idea.

besides, the essence of actors seems to be doucheness

He's probably busy campaigning for the English Democrats in the London mayoral election...

I enjoyed Huey Lewis in Duets. My current signature might indicate such. And hell, for however much I wish people would repeatedly punch Tom Waits in the face until he stops "singing" and making his annoying thespian "music", I did enjoy him in Down By Law. Some people probably enjoy Juliette Lewis' band and/or films. Mr T had a video. Steve Vai was brilliant in Crossroads. Hell, a bunch of idiots think Britney Spears was awesome in Crossroads too. Maybe for every Lindsey Lohan or Steven Segal joint, there might be a Bob Rising and Karl Alvarez in Rock And Roll Punk or a David Yow in Duelin' Firefighters. Maybe not.

Whatever, eh?
