This is mine and yet I'm in 8th place in my league currently. Go figure.

2This looks to me like a good team and I can't imagine how it would be in 8th place, unless it was only an 8 team league. Any team that can afford to bench Sheets and Lowe seems like it should have scary competition.

3It's a 14 team league. I think I'll be close to the top in the end. Vlad and Soriano have yet to wake up, plus I had a lot of injuries that hurt my stats. It's also a rotisserie league, so there are a few categories that are starting to rise e.g. RBI, Runs and Stolen Bases.

4You have 3 San Francisco Giants. If a team with 3 Giants - not counting their fantastic young hurlers - can come close to winning, I'll eat my fitted cap.
Buerhle and Hudson did kick some ass tonight, tho, so you've got that going for you.

I'm waiting on Soriano too. And Matsuzaka's flu killed me- I was in second place in a 16 team league but have dropped to sixth. The Auto draft doled me a roster heavy on the hitting but light on starting ptching. In order to compete I have to hope for big years from Mussina, Randy Johnson and John Lester. Pfff.

6If they're still available, I recommend getting Daniel Cabrera, Brian Burres or Jeremy Guthrie for starting pitchers.JDanger wrote:In order to compete I have to hope for big years from Mussina, Randy Johnson and John Lester. Pfff.
Get George Sherrill as your closer.
I know these Oriole pitchers will probably not have the same kind of stats in August, but they can get you easy points now.
Especially Sherrill with his 11 saves.

Yeah they're all taken, it's a big league. I watched Cabrera vs the White Sox and immediately went to the computer afterward to check on his status. He pitched well, sloppy maybe, but lots of potential. O's don't look half bad this year.
I almost had Cueto and Scherzer off waivers but the baseball gods hate me.

Playing "small ball" in the AL East will catch up with them.
Believe.
Markakis is the only player with an OBP above .400.
They have no shortstop at all.
The have the Millar (i can see him becoming one of the best coaches/managers ever simply because of his demeanor)/Huff tandem at 1st and DH with horrible batting averages and Huff is tied with Markakis for team leading home runs at 5. This tandem is not going to help them win ballgames when one guys is batting .254 and the other is batting .209.
Amazingly enough, their pitching has not been terrible.
Cabrera looks like he is finally going to become the decent pitcher that he has been expected to become. This could and probably will change by the end of the season.
Burres is doing damn good and Guthrie is getting no run support despite not totally sucking.
Next season, stock up on Oriole pitching and keep an eye out on Markakis, Jones and whatever hot new talent arrives when they trade Roberts.
If Luke Scott can hover around a .285 average and Jones continues to show the promise he's been showing, get the Oriole outfield. With the exception of Markakis, the other two combined with Markakis (who is already good to go and an obvious grab for next season), will make for one of the best outfields ever.

Well, at most I only start 2 at a time (mainly Rowand and Lewis). Arron Rowand will start every time, and makes an excellent number 3 OF in my opinion. The thing that is good about winn and lewis is they are both aggressive base runners so they get me steals. Lewis is the better of the two because he has a good batting average too. When you have 14 teams in a rotisserie league you have to get creative with your low end players. All of mine are great base stealers with the exception of JJ Hardy who is there just in case Tejada gets hurt or goes to jail.
