Is Jimi Hendrix the greatest electric guitar player?

That is some horrible music right there.

I like Hendrix's voice though.

When the bass player and drummer are in left field and drooling, it makes it tough to play let alone solo. As uninspired and terrible as this clip is, there are some crazy almost Gibbon-esque tones coming from the guitar. Pretty cool on that end at least.

I happen to like Hendrix and his music, same for Jimmy Page but in a thunderdome of guitar players, Hendrix always wins for me.

I'm not one of those guitar wank guys but Hendrix is really amazing and I never grow tired of watching him 'jam.'

His guitar playing skills are the most impressive I've seen of any of the big guitar rock gods. There is probably some obscure guy or another lesser known rock guitar figure that was 'better' but Hendrix is the most impressive I've seen or heard. Certainly all of the Rock gods from Britian in the sixties thought so; all the stories of Townsend, Clapton and Beck running scared at the thought of sharing a bill with Hendrix are pretty funny.

I think this video is better than that in the original post:
