What if Steve Reich got Steve to record his work?

that would be very interesting, especially a new recording of "drumming."

my answers: stereolab, the fall.

When I go see jazz players that I like, the performances that come across live as intense, sophisticated (musically) and fun(ny) are documented as borderline muzak in the recording studio. I'm clueless as to how. It's like all the worst rock recording techniques used to defeat the album. Your average person who says that jazz is boring usually perks up at something that was recorded by Van Gelder in the late 50s. As much as he is known to not like jazz...has EA/Steve done any jazz recordings?
