m-s stereo mic technique

Hey here's a question about panning --

I understand that the side channels are supposed to be panned hard left and right, and you can widen or narrow the stereo image by doing levels between the mid and side, but what if you want more presence out of the side mic without affecting the stereo image?

Would you just pan them 9 and 3 and bring the levels up or something?

Insert a RTAS plug, i believe its called Trim (its in the 'other' folder). If your doing stereo, you have to look for it in the multiple-mono folder. Its just got a gain control and polarity flip button. Its just nuts the polarity flip isnt built into the mixer.

You can also do it with audiosuite, Other-> Invert.

cheers
