This is a close call indeed.

I pick Zeppelin because I am using Burun's Record owning practice.
I own 4 Stones records and 7 Zeppelin records.

Stones by a mile, and I don't really like them that much. I could easily cull at least a great double-record from the Stones' discography, but I don't think I could fill an LP side with Zeppelin songs I'd voluntarily listen to.

Seriously, "Stupid Girl," "Under My Thumb," "Street Fighting Man," "Citadel," "Play With Fire," "Gimme Shelter," "Sympathy for the Devil," "Dead Flowers," hell, I won't keep going. I'd take any of these songs over the entire LZ catalog.

Yeah, there were some dumb lyrics in Zep songs, but Zeppelin wins on musicianship alone.

Jeez, (this was brought up before) the beginning drum intro to "Rock And Roll" still gets me. Maybe a drummer could explain it. It's like datta-ta-datta-ta-datta and then it kinda goes behind the rhythm before the rest of the band kicks in? I don't know. It seems impossible to try to do on the drums. Dave Grohl did a similar thing on Nirvana's "Very Ape" where it's like danna-na danna-na and then he comes in with the beat that's just slightly behind. Fuckin' A.

It's basically the same thing as "Keep A-Knockin'" by Little Richard. At it's base, it's really only a shuffle beat, albeit played on both hi-hat and snare. Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick plays that as his stock beat a lot of the time; he keeps 1/8th notes softly on the snare along with the hi-hat, accenting the back beat. (Sorry, influenced by mass amounts of Cheap Trick threads here lately)
