Thinking of going to Chicago!?

Had he taken the Metra train rather than the red line, he would have arrived almost on the Museum of Science and Industry's doorstep and saved himself a lot of time and stress walking through my old neighborhood. Metra's more expensive than the CTA and doesn't run as often. It does, however, stop within twelve blocks of the lakefront.

The museum is a good place to visit if you're in Chicago for a few days and want to make the time to head down to Hyde Park. Wander west on 57th afterwards, eat pan pizza at the Medici, and then you can take the Metra train back downtown.

bassman if you want a true "Chicago" experience you should seriously consider taking Marsupialized up on his offer to stay with him at least for a night or two. He's in the same neighborhood that a lot of the posters here live in and hang out in. He knows all the ins and outs and all the bullshit and all the good stuff and how to tell it to you straight. He will also go out all night long with you until one of you drops. He knows the best places for drink specials on any night of the week and where to get the best food at 4 am.

In short I would envy any Chicago bound first timer who gets the grand tour from Marsupialized.
it's not the length, it's the gersch

The MCA is free on Tuesdays, if you're still in town...

However, if you're hooked up with people and they may be down for a day road trip...

last night I went with my roomate to this year round haunted house in Mt. Carroll called the Raven's Grin Inn. Anyways...it's about a three hour drive. It's really more goofy than scary, but the guy who runs it is this amiable old cook with a kinda pervy sense of humor.

What's striking about the experience is that he's probably collected all this shit all his life and has spent his life's work crafting this thing out of his house. I mean, it has a serious Pee-Wee's Playhouse aesthetic, and touring it is kinda like getting a personal tour of this guy's wierdness.

If you can make it out, it's an experience to behold.
You call me a hater like that's a bad thing
