Thinking of going to Chicago!?
31Was his first time in the US. Took the subway from downtown and wanted to walk the rest. He looks a bit like a redneck so I guess he was a bit lost. Made me laugh when I saw him afterwards.

Had he taken the Metra train rather than the red line, he would have arrived almost on the Museum of Science and Industry's doorstep and saved himself a lot of time and stress walking through my old neighborhood. Metra's more expensive than the CTA and doesn't run as often. It does, however, stop within twelve blocks of the lakefront.
The museum is a good place to visit if you're in Chicago for a few days and want to make the time to head down to Hyde Park. Wander west on 57th afterwards, eat pan pizza at the Medici, and then you can take the Metra train back downtown.

I live right there by subterranean and the note and reckless and a whole bunch of other little shops and food and whatnot. You are more than welcome, I feed my guests pretty well also.

bassman if you want a true "Chicago" experience you should seriously consider taking Marsupialized up on his offer to stay with him at least for a night or two. He's in the same neighborhood that a lot of the posters here live in and hang out in. He knows all the ins and outs and all the bullshit and all the good stuff and how to tell it to you straight. He will also go out all night long with you until one of you drops. He knows the best places for drink specials on any night of the week and where to get the best food at 4 am.
In short I would envy any Chicago bound first timer who gets the grand tour from Marsupialized.
